Today was a day of preparation starting the packing process and thinking about the equipment for the clinic and operating room.
We have been looking for some time for a phaco machine (for taking out cataracts the modern way) that is portable.
I was sent an email that one had been located and was donated to me by an equipment rep in S. Carolina. I spoke with this rep and he was glad to help me out with this machine! This was overwhelming as it is nearly a $20K value that was being donated!
Eyes on Shell follows the progress of the beginning of a teaching program in eye surgery at Shell, Ecuador in the Pastaza province.

Preparation
Preparation time can be sometimes the hardest part of any project. We have preparation on many fronts:
1. family stuff to bring
2. equipment for the clinic
3. getting visas, international driver's licenses
4. finding equipment for the operating room
5. making arrangements for those who are visiting during our time there
6. Preparing our home for someone to live in while we are gone
So preparation is a necessary part of going. We are blessed to have time to prepare and time to think about what will be important for taking a family to experience service among a different culture.
Pray for us in our preparation time that we can be focused and purposeful with our time and thoughts.
